Special Programs at Upazila and Field Levels for the Celebration of World Population Day 2024 (July 9-11):

World Population Day is observed annually on July 11 with the aim of raising public awareness on various population-related issues. Like many other countries, Bangladesh also observes this day. It is noteworthy that on July 11, 1987, when the world population surpassed 5 billion, the interest generated among people worldwide led the United Nations Development Programme's Governing Council to establish this day in 1989. The goal of World Population Day is to increase awareness on population-related issues such as family planning, gender equality, poverty, maternal health, and human rights.

The theme for World Population Day 2024 is: "Embracing the power of inclusive data towards a resilient and equitable future for all." In celebration of World Population Day 2024, special programs have been organized at the Upazila and field levels from July 9-11, over three days, to provide short- and long-term family planning services, maternal and child health services, adolescent reproductive health services, and other related services.
